The yellow by Tasja Pulawska

これは、デンマークの陶芸家・Tasja Pulawskaのマグカップ。コペンハーゲン旅行でお邪魔したTasjaのアトリエストアには、この色の作品が充実していた。とても好きな色調の黄色でなにか持ち帰りたいと思い、決めたのがこのマグ。焼物の土っぽさとデザインがうまいぐあいに交わった生活道具が大好きな私にとって、この作品はドンピシャだったのだ。ハンドルがやや細めな感じがするけれど、デンマーク人とは手の大きさが違うから仕方ないか。フォームミルクたっぷりのカフェオレがよく似合う。使いながら気づいたのだけれど、赤みかかったこの色調は、かの国の国民的ブランド「LEGO」の黄色と一緒だな。もはや国民的な色調かなにかなの？ 並べてみると「ロイヤルコペンハーゲン」の黄色とも酷似していた。ご存じの方がいたら、教えていただきたい！

This is a mug by Danish ceramic artist Tasja Pulawska. When I visited Tasja’s studio shop during my trip to Copenhagen, there was a wide selection of pieces in this color. It’s a shade of yellow I really love, and I wanted to bring something back with me, so I decided on this mug. As someone who loves everyday objects where the earthy quality of the pottery and the design blend perfectly, this piece was a perfect match for me. The handle feels a bit on the thin side, but I suppose that’s to be expected since my hands are smaller than the average Dane’s. It looks perfect with a café au lait topped with plenty of frothed milk. As I’ve been using it, I’ve noticed that this reddish hue is identical to the yellow of Denmark’s national brand, “LEGO.” Is it practically a national color or something? When I lined them up, it also looked strikingly similar to the yellow of “Royal Copenhagen.” If anyone knows the answer, please let me know!
