Choko by Kotaro Matsuura

これは松浦コータローさんの蕎麦猪口。2014年くらいに購入したものだから、いまの作風よりずっと絵付が可愛らしい。和食器ならではの朱赤を用いながら、花の種類はどこか西洋風で（でもたぶん菊）、中央に大胆に配置した構図は北欧の食器のようで、しかし日本人の作家による猪口というミックス感がとても新鮮だった。大切にしているので、ごくたまに食器棚の奥から出してくる。割らないように単体で使うから、ヨーグルトを食べたり、お茶を飲むのがほとんどだ。ガラスのプレートに乗せたら、もっとかわいい。

This is a SOBA CHOKO by Kotaro Matsuura.  The drawing of typical Japanese vermilion red, yet the type of flower appears somewhat Western in style (though probably a japanese chrysanthemum). The bold composition, with the flower placed centrally, resembles Nordic tableware. The mix of everything looked new to me that I treasure it very much and only take it out cupboard very occasionally.  It also makes a good combination with red glass plates.
