Container of Tasja Pulawska

これは、デンマークの作家・Tasja Pulawskaの蓋物。子どもの頃、着ていたピンクに似ている。母におねだりしたピンクの服は、黒、紺、グレーばかり着させたがる彼女の好みの範疇を出ることのないなんとも落ち着いた色味で、ちょっとがっかりしたけれど、この食器を見て思う。あれは濃い色に合わせてこそ映えるピンクだったのだな。深い森のようなグリーンの蓋は、ピンクという色のやさしい印象をびっくりするほど大人っぽく転じていて、食器というよりインテリアとして、香りのいいものやジュエリーをいれて使いたいと思い、コペンハーゲンを旅行した際に購入した。コペンハーゲンには、マンションの一室で作陶する作家がいる。洋書「Urban Potters」で知ったTasjaのアトリエは、通りに面したショーウインドウから全体を見渡せるワンルームで、テーブルや棚に作品がディスプレイされたその同じ空間に、ろくろもあれば、材料も置いてある。釉薬を塗る作業をしているらしい彼女に声をかけると、手をとめ説明や販売をしてくれた（なんとフランクな！）。ドイツから仕入れる使い勝手のいい土などをいくつかブレンドして作るという作品は、どれも薄く軽やか、そして、配色が素敵だった。

This is a lidded container by Danish ceramic artist Tasja Pulawska. It resembles the pink jacket I wore as a child. The pink clothes I begged my mother were in such subdued colours that they never strayed from her preference for black, navy blue and grey, which was a little disappointing. But looking at this color combination, this pink only stood out against dark colours. The deep forest green lid transforms the gentle impression of pink into something surprisingly mature.  I bought it when I travelled to Copenhagen to use as an interior, for storing fragrant items or jewelries. In Copenhagen, there are quite a few ceramic artists who have an atelier in an apartment. I learned about Tasja’s studio from the book Urban Potters. The studio is a single room that can be from the street-facing display window. The works, the potter’s wheel and materials are all in one place. The artist, who appeared to be applying glaze stopped it, explained and sold her works to me. Her works, created by blending several types of clay were all thin and light, with truly lovely colour combinations.
