Rim plate by Yoshiyuki Ito

This is a rim plate by Yoshiyuki Ito. When I told him that it was my “the most favorite rim plate in the world,” he surprised me by asking, “What is so special about it?” So I listed below. The exquisite white color that is warm but not too rustic, the slight unevenness of the surface caused by the flow of the glaze, the balance between inside and the rim, the angle of the rim that is just on the edge of serving ease (too flat does not look beautiful), the clear and not too sweet ball edge, the easy-to-hold weight distribution, the beauty of stacking. There is no end to the praise. It makes home cooking, especially hamburgers, omelette rice, beaf stew, fried chicken, pork cutlet look much more delicious, which raise your appetite and mood. The owner of a shop “Utsuwa Party”, Sayomi Sakane, introduced me this plate. She is an excellent cook and her eye for tableware never fails to impress me. This plate appears on our table at least three times a week. I am sure that this eating habits will happily give us good time forever.

これは伊藤叔潔（いとう・よしゆき）さんのリムプレート。「世界でいちばん好きなリムプレート」だとご本人に伝えたら「どんなところがそれほどまでに？」と驚かれ、以下を羅列したことがある。素朴さとは違う凛とした温かみのあるアイボリー、釉薬による表面のやわらかな凹凸、見込みの面積と深さ×リム幅のバランスの良さ、盛り付けやすさギリギリを攻めたリムの角度（フラットすぎても美しく見えない）、玉縁（細く丸い縁）がスッキリとしていて甘すぎない、持ちやすい重さの分散、スタッキングの美しさ……、褒めはじめたらとまらない。ハンバーグ、オムライス、ハヤシライス、チャーハン、唐揚げ定食、トンカツ定食といったホームクッキングの洋食＆定食屋風メニューをびっくりするほど綺麗に、本当に美味しそうに盛り付けることができて、食欲も、気分もあげてくれるプレートなのだ。紹介してくれたのは定期的に伊藤さんの展示会を開催している「うつわ PARTY」の店主・坂根さよみさん。料理上手な坂根さんのうつわの目利きは私を裏切らない。子供達が食べ盛りで定食が増えている現在、週に３度は登場するから食器棚から取り出すたびにわくわく。私の食生活はもうずっとハッピーだと確信するほど偏愛の食器である。そして、好きなうつわとともに過ごす幸せな毎日は、これからもまだまだ続いていく。
